If you've found a vendor offering prices in sterling they are free to define their own exchange rate. It might be really advantageous or (more likely) it could be awful. So there can be no definitive answer to your question. If in doubt, accept the dollar price.
As Annie states, it's worth remembering that (for items costing over the equivalent of �18) you'll almost certainly end up paying some hefty charges for importing your purchase.
