Vista versus ME
7 Answers
I've read many comments about people's dissatisfaction with Windows Vista recently and it reminds me of the criticism directed at Windows Millennium Edition in the months following the release of ME?.
Is Vista really as bad as ME in relative terms and will Vista be termed the OS that never was by historians?
Personally, although it can be quirky in parts, I love Vista!
Thanks

I have used Windows 98 and XP and they were OK also, but as long as you keep everything up to date with Up-Dates I find Vista the best so far. I'm happy with what I have got at present although some users apparently don't like it.
You have to go with the times or get stuck in the past and some do not like change !!!!

Well I won't be buying it as what I have got is OK. Whatever is released a professional moaner will come on here and lambast it until a newer version again is released. On and on it goes, the more that is released the more the gullible will keep buying. Microsoft is no different to any other manufacturer, they are all there to make money.
While XP was around for about 5 years, as rojash says, the next version of Windows will be out in October so Vista will have been around for about 2 and a half years.
Normally you would expect the next release of Windows to be an upgrade to Vista (but keep the name).
Changing the name of Windows is a very expensive process, so the fact that Microsoft are getting rid of the name Vista (so it seems) makes you realise they think it has been a disaster for them.
Microsoft rely on companies upgrading their version of Windows (that way they can charge for hundreds or thousands of licenses) but the uptake for Vista has been very poor inside large companies, hence the rename and relaunch.
I think Vista has been one of Microsoft's worst public relations disasters (if you include the huge delay in them shipping it).
They will be glad to se the back if it.

.... pot calling kettle?
both ME and Vista were panic releases
(as was 2000 - but in that case they got it right - after 4 major servicepacks)
me was supposed to answer the internet/cd/movie threat that apple supported
2000 because XP was taking too long to replace NT4
and vista - well then vista .... I still haven't worked out what the hell they thought they were doing with vista
must admit 50% of the problem there was the "must have people" (aka idiots) who didn't check their hardware and software was capable and compatible... of working
if they leave it alone win7 kicks bottom
