How Clean is Your House

I'm watching old episodes of How Clean is Your House. Do people really live like this in such filth and squalor, or do the programme makers embelish things and make everything alot worse to make the show more interesting?

I know it makes the programme - but I remember Kim showing some woman how to clean her hessian wallpaper with a slice of bread - oh my god, would you be bothered.
I have great respect for Kim Woodhall - I recently read her life story - it is so sad, but what a life she has had - she so deserves the success she has had.

I can imagine Sara, the kids would be ridiculed and called all sorts of names at school. I would be far too ashamed for anyone to see my home if I lived like that, how humiliating.
Den, was there a story about Kim having had a stillborn baby and hiding it? I don't know the ins and outs of her life, but agree it's nice she's doing well.

If you get a chance Velvetee, read Kim's book - it wil break your heart - I bought mine on Ebay.
She did have a stillborn son - she delivered him herself, all alone in her flat - I won't go into details, as it will spoil the story if you read her book, but what I will say is, she is one very strong woman - mentally and physically.
Mind you would have to be strong in the stomach department to go into some of the minging houses !!!

unfortunately people do live in poo tips, velvetee.
i used to be friends with a girl at school whose house was disgusting - she had several brothers and sisters, and i used to dread going there. everything smelt of wee, piles of stuff everywhere, curtains pulled on. faeces around the toilet, bath still full of dirty water - and my personal favourite - old, spat out penny sweets stuck on the dining room chairs. i could never understand it, because her mum had her own business, so it wasn't like she didn't have the money to do something to the house.
it's sad, really - the girl ended up on smack aged 14 or something.
i wonder if the people who live in such houses smell themselves??
