Which is better please? Also a real 'blonde' question - if it says it is 32" does that mean the screen size or from corner to corner. Doh.

real blond answer

why does it matter? - a 32" telley is the same size as all the others (give or take an inch) (you can't really get a bigger one ... cause then its called a 37"

all you need are the case dimentions to see if it will fit

btw corner-corner

My current TV is 26" screen size corner to corner, but 32" if you include the surrounding silver bits. So is it 26" or 32"?
it's a 26" you don't include the case.
it's corner to corner of the screen
screen size (26)
not case size (32)

but I suppose when talking to the jonses .... it's 32
aaaaaaaaaghhhhhh
It has been a little while since I've managed to jump in ahead of you though AC :)
LCD have a better life span than Plasma screens!

Plasma's tend to have a lot of technical faults - although that is what I have come across and experienced!

Only measure the actual screen!
To answer your first part Plasma, or at least that what it says here - http://www.plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/home/.

I have looked at a lot of reports and think that lees than 37 inches diagonal screen size it is better to have a LCD.
Over 37 inch a Plasma,
6 Months ago I bought a new Sony 40" HDTV (lcd) Model No KDL40W4000 and I cannot recommend it highly enough. You can look up reviews of this set and others on the internet. Sony are regarded as leaders in the field of LCD and Panasonic in the Plasma.
The choice is yours !!!!
Plasma use more power, so cost more to run
I'm pretty certain that there are plans to stop producing plasma because of the high power consumption

there are now flat LEDs available (expensive at the mo) brighter - and will be cheaper with better colour
You may find that although the screen size is measured corner to corner, with a larger older square 4:3 type tv screen you will not get as much vertical area as on a newer widescreen tv.

So a 32 inch widescreen tv my look and be a lot bigger than the 26 inch widescreen but may not be as big as an older 26 inch square screen.
I have a 32" LCD which I bought about 6 years ago (very expensive then) and loved it...........until my daughter bought a 40"...........
