ref. parts guarantees on vw. I had a throttle body fitted with 2 year guarantee. 2 months later it needed replacing & the garage did so. I now need another throttle body & it is within 2 years of the 2nd part being fitted but 2 years & 2 months of the original one. I feel this is STILL IN GUARANTEE of that 2nd one being fitted. do you know the rules on this area.? Surely it is the part that is under guarantee. My garage says "no" & has offered 40% payment of costs needed. Is this right & fair or is the part technically still under guarantee??

my understanding on this is the guarantee time is the same as the original purchase, ie if a part with a one year warranty fails at 11 months the new part doesnt carry a further 1 year just the remaining 1 month.

thank you :-(
Ah but there is fit for purpose too. So It does not matter about a garuantee. If the new part fails in an unreasonably short time you have a case against the supplier.
