Where can i get tips and rules for playing this please?

The Daily Mail and (I think) the Times print one everyday. I also picked up a copy of Su-doku Selection which is a new monthly su-doku puzzle magazine from my local newsagents, which seems to explain it all.

Also, try googling Sudoku. This brings up several sites and one or two where you can generate your own sudokus'.

I first thought Soduku were brilliant. Now after doing six of them, i find them brain numbing and boreing.

If you just go to soduku.com, they have many tips, tricks, hints and rules.  They also have a free downloadable version, or one you can buy for around $15 USD, I think.  Anyway, I quite suggest you look at it.
It helped me to learn how to play, as well as give me an oppportunity to play randomely-generated sodukus.
