being charged twice

What is the policy in a store that scans an item twice and you only realise once your home therefore it is my word against the store, can i get a refund?

As said b4 a refund should be given - all they will do if trhey don't trust the fact you only recieved one is a stock check, I also work in retail and thats what we do.
