the new way to rescue a casualty by ladder is:
one fireman goes down ladder as normal facing the rungs.
the casualty is lowered via a rope under arms with their back to the ladder rungs.
the casualty's weight is then distributed by a fireman above holding rope and by placing of their legs on each shoulder of the firefighter below.

Hi Logic,
I've been in that very situation, and not only was I carried out I also only had on a thin silk teddy.. with my backside hanging out....
Now then... 'would you go down from that height'??? well... the alternative was that I was dying from smoke inhalation... so had no choice. 2 other people died that day in that fire.
Firefighters are my heroes :D xxx
