Someone I know vaguely has just given birth to a little girl and named her Delilah..... don't they know what this girl has to look forward to? Endless repetitions of Tom Jones' numbers, references to where Samson is....

What other daft names can you think of that are just asking for ridicule or songbursts?

only us oldies recall the Tom Jones song.

theres a beautiful song called "hey there delilah" which is probably the inspiration behind the name.

I almost called baby CRX delilah
i wanted to call Little CRX "alice" but my younger sisters kept singing
"alice? alice? who the fook is alice?"
I think she should forgive them salla ;0)
Also this crappy song:

Delilah is a rubbish name anyway. It sounds like a redneck name.

I hope she doesn't get to the point where she just couldn't take any more.

I supose it's better than Delia - Delia Miss Prim Smith.
most names will have a song connected or a celebrity or tv character that somehow can be twisted to take the mick, should people feel the need though :)
We have a girl here called Michelle and this guy keeps singing ♫Michelle my belle♫ to her!!!!
my mates sisters little girl name megan surname bacon think about it?
The missus has a client on her books called Aila Waite...I kid you not.

Redcrx - what would you sing to someone called 'Trina' ??
i wouldnt sing anything :)

but how many people call you trinny? either by mistake or to make comments?

Nothing wrong with that track IwillRule
Question Author
Since Trinny of Trinny & Susannah - about 3.

The vicar married me in the name of 'Trenda' (he was Jamaican & hard of hearing... Oh, and sozzled on Rum).

I just got called Tilly. Or Til-let. (My mate Lil was, obviously, Lil-let.)
so as i said, whatever your name, theres always going to be someone willing to try and make jokes about it.

is it asking for ridicule?
thirsty kirsty gets really really tiring after a while!

Nobody asks for riducule, but like you said - they'll probably get it anyway - if not from their christian name, then their surname or their appearance.

I don't dislike the name Delilah - just that since I've been told the name, I've been singing Tom Jones all afternoon.
There's a film coming out soon called Samson and Delilah (two aborigines) so it might get more common in the next few months.
Saying this, the film isn't a nice one really so your acquaintance might live to regret naming her little one this name!!
and its stoke citys anthem....the girl will go far......lol
