Thanks bignanny. I was of that opinion but didn't Dr Floyd appear in the 2010 Space Odyssey novel? At best, in 2008 he hadn't reached 2010!

Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001 and its sequel 2010, died in 2008, thus not living to 2010.
