I got a nasty cold when I was heavily pregnant, and threw up once during a coughing fit. I think because baby is taking up so much space, you're more likely to throw up, as all your internal organs are displaced upwards and backwards. I know I felt sometimes like my food was sitting just below my diaphragm after a meal, and I avoided eating too much at once for the last couple of months to prevent that feeling.
I also know of one woman who had morning sickness right up until 4 weeks before she gave birth. It was awful for her, but she was re-assured by docs and midwives that baby wouldn't really mind at all.
It's lovely that you're concerned O'Bonio, but I would just trust your wife's instincts on this one......we women just know . I know that sounds a bit vague and mystical, but I was never so in tune with my body as I was during pregnancy - it was fabulous. You know what feels right or wrong and you realise what your body is (and isn't) capable of. This awareness will help her enormously during the birth. It's kind of hard for dads to truly understand this, you guys have no similar experience in your lifetime. Be supportive (just as you are) but be careful not to sound like you're doubting her judgement on this issue (we women can be a touch temperamental at such times!!) as I've said, her awareness and knowledge of her body will be vital come D(elivery)-day. Good luck to you all. xxx
well known fact us nursesmake the worse patients...... Big a* for you as a dad and husband being so concerned for wife and baby however dont be worried a cough in pregnancy will not harm baby although make wife feel even more uncomfortable. i ammom to 3 girls and with the first had gall bladder trouble and was sick all the way through , the drs put it down to morning sickness, with 2nd daughter i had chikenpox in pregnancy was hospitalised but all fine . Give her loads of extra love and try to just stick with cold drinks hot tend to worsen the cough, have faith that she knows alls fine and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy together.....
love to hear about baby when arrives x
