MP3 players

I am going to buy my first MP3 player. I plan to transfer my CDs onto the computer and then transfer to the said player.
If the download format for the player is DRM 10 will that be compatible?
I have tried to read up on Digital Rights Management?? and it seems to be something built into the music so I'm afraid I dont understand how it relates to the download. Would be grateful for some enlightenment please.
Anything else I should consider?
Can I transfer music from tapes to the computer and onto the MP3 player?

Most sounds uploaded to pc are converted by Windows media player to compatible digital files.

Tapes; if you have a microphone on your pc that could be the easiest way - or a cable from the tape player Output to the Microphone input on pc.

Cant wait to get started. I put one CD onto computer tonight. The next one should take half the time.

I use one of these that I bought abroad - haven't seen them on sale in UK. They're sold with cables to connect music centre/tape players etc to pc.

Hmmmm. Interesting. I had thought that I would get something without the video facility. Some are so " all singing, all dancing " that they would be too complex for my limited techy knowhow.
I was looking at the Philips 4gb SA2825 but it has a shiny face which may be difficult to see. Or a Goodmans 4gb , hence my original question about types of download. ie CD or DRM9 or DRM10?
