best method to get rid of weeds

every year i dig out the weeds between the flags in our back yard, i tried different products etc, but can anyone give any ideas as the best way to get rid of the weeds growing between my flags and keep them away, is cementing between the flags a good way to keep them at bay, ideas please? many thanks

Use it from a spray tank at about 6 ounces per gallon of water (six to one if you don't need that much). Apply it once in the earlier morning or later afternoon. Roundup is used on many crops here in the U.S., is food crop safe and leaves no soil residue, so I, personally, have no compunction about its use...
I use Roundup for my flags, but I do have to re-apply each spring. It will only attack plants which have emerged, so it is best to wait for quite a lot of growth to appear (or use it several times throughout the summer). It's advantage is that it does not poison the soil, or leach to adjoining beds (but beware of spray blowing on to other foliage).
