Im currently living in a 3 bedroom council house with my partner and our 4 kids, my youngest is ready to go into his own room but the problem s that there's no where to put him, the oldest has his own room ( which is only a box room) and the 2 girls share there own room. We have applied to local housing associations to ask for a house with 4 rooms but we have been told we do not qualify for help with housing.. Can anyone give any imformation that will help us or point us in the right direction to get the help we need

I do wish you well, and for all your family, as i have four children too and know how you must feel at the moment.
You did'nt say you worked originally, so some of us may have got the wrong end......... ....comment mid way through did'nt help.
Have you tried getting help from citizens advice centres etc....but as you said, the housing associations...

Wish you luck mate, anyway.

I think private renting may be your only hope unless you can make some adaptions to your house, personally I would put bunk beds in both rooms, everyone will moan but will get used to them, then I would look at renting privately, the council are not going to help you, they have bu$$er all properties available as it is and most have huge waiting lists.
renting privately is not always as expensive as you think, check out rightmove.com and look at all the available options open to you. my neighbour bought a caravan and parked it on the driveway to create a bedroom for himself, you could also utilise the living room by buying a bed/settee
although we read about people on benefits living in mantions in knightsbridge rent free, it is not common and there is not a lot of available social property.

Just re-read your thread and noticed the lovely Velvetee mentioned on the third post about the possibilty of you asking for an exchange to a bigger house, which i have heard of happening in your kind of instance and circumstances, so may be useful to look into that.
I know nothing much about how you can do this, but i'm sure you will know where to start to ask. Good luck.
All the best, again, to you and all the family
