However, I have just lost a female this month, and she was 22yrs and 39 days old. I have also had Misty who was 24yrs except for 2 days. Monte was 20yrs. Smokey was 18yrs. Mitzi was 13yrs, and Jessica was 14yrs. Katy died aged 2yrs of leukaemia, So there is a wide variation of longevity. Normally, cats have a longer life span than dogs. Present cats are Felix aged 6yrs and Frankie 3yrs, and I'm hoping they have long lives. The oldest UK cat at the moment is a black & white, called Mischief, who is 27yrs old. You can google (Mischief the Cat's 27th Birthday). and see a photo of him. he's gorgeous.
Pussyfoot. It is probably the weather. When its warm and humid cats generally don't want to eat much in the day time. My two don't eat until it's cooler usually about 10pm. If your cat seems out of condition, and remains uninterested in her food for more than a few more days, I would suggest you pop her along to the vets, just for a check up to be on the safe side. Hope you have her for a good few more years yet. Schutz.
The vets and the books usually say around 13,but as you can see in these answers, barring accidents and unortunate illnesses, most cats seem to live much longer and some into their 20s. My previous cats, one died of a possible stroke at 13,and the other was 19, (mind you he was a bag of brittle bones and people thought we were starving him!)
WOW Schutz!!! what a collection!!!
You must be a very good Mummy to have got most of them to live for so long!
I had Polly for my 3rd birthday and she died aged 21yrs. so was very proud of that! Never heard of a cat older than that - good on you!
I have Harvey Pickle Pants who is 8 - but I hope to have many years with him still left!
