I paid above face value to Double8 tickets - their refund policy states if the artist cancels the event then they only refund the face value of the ticket.
This however is arguably not the case - since he died! not cancelled it.

I paid by credit card - will I be protected?
I paid 400 for 2 tickets as a present for my husband.
Advice appreciated as I could really do with the full refund!!

I'm pretty sure this will be treated as a cancellation. The best you can do is ask your credit card company to pursue a full refund- you've got nothing to lose.

Strictly speaking he hasnt cancelled... but I see your point.
Will the credit card company protect my transaction???
Whats the deal with the protection on credit cards?
Tell you what mate, all those agencies are as bent as a nine bob note, I'll be amazed if anyone gets anything back. Some people won't even have actual tickets.

Well thank you R1 yes - but this one states
"5. ASTA is the association of secondary ticket agents, which requires its members to maintain a high level of ethics and protect the consumers interest in the secondary ticket market. Double8tickets is proud to be a founder member of ASTA"

My query is - will my credit card protect me and refund the difference??
Thanks for the advice!
Yes they and others where featured on watchdog a few weeks back. Good luck but expect to be ripped off, have you got actual tickets? ASTA are the equivalent of the association of master builders, ie shower of sh1te

I dont have actual tickets no... they issue them just before the event which was due to be Feb 2010

WIll my credit card protect the transaction if they default on the refund?
Hi Nosha 123,

Have you spoken to your credit card company to get their advice?

I have previously had to have a refund on my credit card, and the bank refunded me the money and then persued the case themselves.

Not sure if that would work in your case, but I'd call them firstly.

Good Luck!!! :)

Thank you everyone!!!
Have a lovely Friday
Keep hold of them. They will be worth a fortune in a few years. Imagine if you had tickets to the last ever Elvis concert? A collector would pay a fortune.

wow - d you reckon squarebear!!!
I dont have the actual tickets though!!!!
BUMMER
Squarebear,

I think they would be worth a lot more if the final concert actually took place!!
I disagree. These tickets have a fantastic story behind them and will go crazy prices in a few years by collectors.

I guarantee it.

does anyone actually have any tickets stubs though... I dont know if nay would have been sent out since the first few planned gigs were postponed....
I don't understand how you can say it's not technically cancelled -it will clearly be cancelled by the artist's "people" in the same way that if he had just decided not to do it it would be cancelled. I don't know what other technical term you could put on this -it's cancelled by the artist. In the scenario above, do you think MJ himself would have rung to say "sorry i'm not doing it now"?. the exact same person will cancel the dates therefore the concert is cancelled~!!!
i have no sympathy .................i did warn some time ago that for some reason the concerts will be cancelled................i just wasn't sure for what reason.

the lengths some people will go to to skive off work eh?

well the good news is I get my money back - 50% from double 8 and 50% from barclaycard!!
Very pleased for you nosha.
Good resultfor you! Well done.
I hope Barclaycard can recover some of the other 50% from Doubl8 though- I don't see why other Barclaycard customers or shareholders should subsidise Double 8.
