Bakers Cyst?

Does anyone have experience of a Bakers Cyst? It is five weeks since mine burst and the doc said it would heal in two!! The pain in my knee is awful, painkillers are helping.

Don't know how old you are, but Baker's Cysts are often associated with Osteo-Arthrtitis of the knee and it may well be that the pain is coming from the OA rather than the burst cyst.

An X-Ray of the knee would soon sort out the cause of the pain.

Thankyou, I had wondered if that was the reason, but after twisting my knee one day the pain built up till one day I couldn't put my foot to the ground and had to be ferried around to docs and hospital for a scan to check if it was a blood clot. So maybe a visit to the doc to ask for an x-ray might be a good idea. I am 79 so perhaps it's an age thing - lol.

My OH had a baker's cyst and his was also caused by twisting his knee.
He now has terrible arthritis in his knee and he was never aware of any pain previous to having the cyst.
Don't know what conclusion to draw from this but it sounds very similar to your case BettM.

Thankyou Madmaggot. After more than five weeks of pain I am almost scared to say that today it is much easier - see what tomorrow brings! I will have to see the doc again re arthritis though in view of what you say, and maybe she will suggest an x-ray. It's the feeling of uselessness that bothers me - I am usually very active, but this sitting around is getting to me - lol.
