Washing machine in bathroom

I want to put my washing machine in the bathroom as there is not enough room in the kitchen. Can a hard wired switch be put in the airing cupboard alongside the switch for the boiler? The washing machine will sit under the airing cupboard.

Our washing machine is in the downstairs bathroom and is wired in (rather than have a plug)

We are looking to rewire and the electrician did that thing they do when they suck on their teeth, shook his head and muttered something I couldn't quite hear.

So... I have but don't know if I should :)
