I think I know what 'the pen is mightier than the sword' means but could someone sort it out for me. Also..

Did you ever write in such a way that it spelt a 'rude' word and caused enormous hilarity to a bunch of 12 year olds in a boring Eng Lit lesson?

When I was doing GCSE French my teacher had a bad back and used to get one of the boys to write stuff on the board for her.  He used to stick random letters in capitals so that it spelt out rude words.  We were p*ssing ourselves of course.  Ah - the maturity of grammar school kids!  You can't beat it!

The pen is mightier than the sword just means that words can have a huge influence.  It's like the opposite of "sticks and stones".  Proving that saying can usually be countered.  Too many cooks, or many hands!?!
