margaritas - better with lemon, or lime?

I'm not their biggest fan but if I had to then it must be lime. Lemons are overrated.

Okay, homework for this weekend. Get yourself ...

Bottle of Tequila
Bottle of Triple Sec (Cointreau will do)
Lemon juice ... (let's start Melons with a lemon one)
Salt
Sugar
Girlfriends to share it with

The glass ...

Boil half sugar and half water in a pan. When it goes clear, leave it to cool. This is your "sugar syrup".

Pour some sugar syrup onto a plate, and dip the rim of the glass into it to make it sticky. Then dip the rim of the glass in the salt.

Your glass now has salt all round the rim. This process is called "rimming" (yes, yes ... I know).

The Margarita ...

Into the rimmed glass, pour ...

2 parts Teguila
1 part Triple Sec or Cointreau
1 part lemon juice

And ... drink.

Friday evenings will never be the same again.

Melons ... there will be detention next week if you don't do this homework.

i just dip the rim of the glass in water, tequila or lime or lemon juice to dampen it before dipping it in salt, seems to work and saves the bother of making sugar syrup.
margaritas are my totally and absolutely all-time favourite drink, i may have to make one (or two or three or...) later on now you've reminded me joggerjayne :)
