in cumbria there is a very dark road where absolutly now cars drive down at 4 in the morning and it has these cats eyes where they are always lit up, they hypnotise you after u have drove past as they are still on, my freind says the car lights light them up but even when there is no light on them they are lit.....how are they lit up all the time

I understand that they are solar powered L.E.D.'s.  They may not have much power retention, perhaps just enough to shine when hit by light and then diminish.  I quite agree with the srobe effect, quite puzzling when first seen.

i agree with tim, solar powered L.E.D 's that when you are driving down the road they tell each other that you are coming. The best thing about these is when you turn your lights off it becomes very so-real!!! just remember to keep the red ones on the left of your car!!!!
