I went to the seaside this week and swam in the sea, which I love to do....however, after I had been out of the water for an hour and the tide had gone out thus far, I could see a jelly fish on the beach. As they lie on the beach are they dead? Do they still have the ability to sting you? Would they sting you if you were swimming in the sea? It's just the thought has put me off swimming in the sea again and yet I love it better than a pool. It was Hunstanton by the way and gorgeous!
Might be worth checking out the types. The most common aurelia aureta is O.K. but some are nasty. Plenty of info on the net. They are all harmless when all the parts have died. I swim in a wetsuit in the sea and with goggles on you can see whats about. That's the safest.
we too went to hunstanton on sunday and had a lovely time weather was so hot and so was the sea there were lots of jelly fish we noticed when the children went in for a paddle we took some photos of them they were alive in the sea from he pictures i understand they are the common jelly fish and dont sting hope that helps
