I have Virgin media broadband service. Netgear Wireless router with that. Router is in the back (dining) room where it is connected to a PC using ethernet cable so it's fine there.

I have my office right at the back of the garden about 20 meter away. Now that is where problem starts. I have connected a PC there using wireless USB. And that sometimes gives me problem. Sometime it works fine and at times connection keeps on breaking.

I checked my laptop with built in Wireless at the same time and same place. That seems to be working fine. So I think that problem is with the USB adaptor I am using. Any suggestions please or any better options?
Right now I am using this one,

you've answered your own question

an option which might work is get a usb extension cable so you can reposition the adapter

failing that you need a high gain aerial (which still might not work

wireless is iffy anyway ... but a desktop is just a big block of metal between router and adapter

east west ... wire's best
You could always make an antenna out of an old pringles can, if you can get a USB dongle that has a coax input. Or just buy one.

Otherwise, you could invest in a more powerful router. Look for the MIMO ones, wireless-n type, with two aerials.

Another option is to get a wireless repeater for your current router (though at this price, you may as well just get another router). This could be fitted in your shed, and has a more powerful antenna to receive the wifi signal. Then just use an ethernet cable from this receiver, or it can re-send the wifi signal it received.
