Rendering / Plastering
3 Answers
Hi, we've just constructed a conservatory between 3 walls, 2 of which are smooth brick and the other is very rough, old, uneven brick with 'botched' bits in between. We'll have to render the 'old' wall before plastering, but can we plaster straight over the other 2 walls or should we render them first? Thanks.

If you are using Thistle plaster go to the british-gypsum website for details of their (excellent) bonder. Otherwise Google Plaster Bonding Agents to find a choice of many. Terminology in plastering is Render = 1st coat, Float = 2nd coat and Set = 3rd coat. For your smooth walls apply bonding agent then Render and Set. For your rough wall apply bonding agent then Render and Float (to straighten it up) then Set.
