see sect 4(1)(d)
if that's what you've done , it would be perjury.

i dont really understands what your asking here louise, are you saying that you put the wrong fathers name down and now want to change it cause you think hes a waste of space, and that your new partner ''deserves'' to be called the father? Or is it a case of you didnt know who the father was when you registered your son and have since discovered who is? i hope its the latter as if you are looking to change it just because you feel the named father is a'';waste of space'' then that is soooo wrong. Despite what you may think of your ex, your son deserves the right to have both mother and fathers name on his certificate. legally i dont think you will be allowed to do that anyway, not at least without your ex's consent.
My son has his real father on his birth cert, his real father is a waste of space and has had zero contact, no maintaince etc, but the end of the day he is my sons biological father and nothing can change that. My partner is dad to my son they have bonded and its great my boy has this chance of having a fatherly figure.
Im not ashamed that my sons real father plays no part, its out of my control but when my son is old enough and wants to he can discover who is real father is and that side of family is etc. Just because I think his real father is a waste of space it does not mean my son will.
Birth cert is a legal document and in time will answer questions for my son wheather I like it or not!
