how do i get over him...

like 4 yrs ago i used to really like this guy. which is really stupid when that i look at now it because we were like little kids ahha ( middle school per say) he's a year younger than me.
we used to have this thing for each other but then i moved away ... we kept in touch for a while but then he started becoming really distant... and now we dont even talk(we havent talked for like 2 yrs.) so i just sorta was like okay.... i started liking other guys and dating but in the back of my head i still sometimes thought about him. when i met or saw guys that reminded me of him (looks, personality) i would get i dunno... sad? nostalgic? i still do.im 16 now
it makes me miserable
my best friends tell me:
-hes probably not even mature enough for you cuz hes a yr younger.
-stop dwelling on the past and search for new guys. (which i have)
-youre probably just in love w/ the idea of him than actually him.
-youre way to good for him and he most likey wouldnt appreciate you enough for the way you felt about him. ( he also was a little chubby but that didnt matter to me because i liked him for is personality)
but thats my problem.
I NEED ALL THE ADVICE I CAN GET!
how do i get over it?
what will make me feel better?

You are 16 and he is 15. By the time you are twenty, you will have both developed yourselves a great deal and may even find that your experiences have put you into different spheres. The age difference is not relevant (My OH is three years older than me!)
You really should not worry about it - concentrate on developing yourself to be the person you want to be and let him do the same. If you meet up with him then and the chemistry works great - otherwise you may even meet up and find yourself asking "Who the H*LL is that? What a lucky escape!" Remeber very very few of us end up with our first or even second love!
