A computer bus is basically part of a computer's architecture that is responsible for moving or transferring data or power (in this case, data) from one component to another. In the case of HyperTransport, it is essentially there to increase the performance of the system using it.
HyperTransport (HT), not to be mistaken for HyperThreading (also HT) used in certain Intel Pentium 4 CPUs (which do not, as far as I'm aware, use HyperTransport).
