When i braked, i could hear water slushing about in the back of my car. It turned out to be water trapped in the rear passenger door. (2-3 litres) It is a 56 honda civic. Is this normal???

i have had this problem years ago.
at the bottom of the door there are drain holes (they can become blocked) all you need to do is get an old coat hanger and clear the holes.
do not poke more than about 25mm in though.

thanks, i appreciate the advice, i am now off out to the car, complete with coat hanger in hand. Thanks again le-frog
Just a thought. Are you sure the slushing noise IS coming from the door ? You can sometimes get the same sound coming from fuel sloshing about in the tank.

Thanks derekpara, that was my first thought, however when i went looking for the source of the noise i opened the door and heard it. I have drained it, and cleaned the stoppers as suggested by le-frog, and all now seems well.
