car insurance

I'm planning on getting my car insurance for a very old citroen saxo which has been previously owned by my mother and then passed on to my sister. My sister is now passing it onto me. The car is currently in my sisters name but what I want to know is 'Do I need to get the car in my name before I do the insurance or can i do it without?

The insurance should be in the name of the owner/keeper of the car.
