My 12 year old border collie has recently become quite destructive. He will chew doorframes or other items of furniture.I have tried spraying anti-chew spray on these items but it hasnt had any effect...does anyone have any other ideas about what i can do?

Hi,
It sounds like your collie is either going a little senile or is bored. We all know how much stimulation collies need, is he getting enough attention and exercise?
Although border collies usually have lovely tempraments and can make good pets.  It must be remembered that they are bred as working dogs, they are highly intelligent and can quickly become bored.  As your 'boy' is 12 years old and never behaved like this before, I would advise that you talk to your vet.  Even if he is senile there are drugs that can sometimes help.  Good Luck!
