Hi I have a Ponticum Variegata in a large tub on the patio it did not flower much this year and the leaves are going yellow it's looking sick what do I have to feed it to get it back to it's best for next year. Best Regards
Rhododendrons like acid soil so it may need watering with Sequestren an additive to increase acidity. You can also get Miracle Grow for acid soil too. Make sure it is potted in ericaceous soil. It all depend where you live, If you are in Cornwall it tends to be more acid and in the New Forest Rhodies flourish but there aren't many places in Wiltshire where they grow as the ground is mainly chalk(alkali) and not suitable. Try typing Ponticum Variegata into Google.
If your rhododendron has been in the same tub for several years it may benefit from being removed, having some of the old compost being taken away and some fresh ericaeous compost added. Best to do this in the autumn when the plant is starting to rest a little.
