Hyphens in email addys and undeliverables!!!

I have been emailing a colleague at work (external email address) for months, all of a sudden I can't email him, I receive Undeliverable messages (the email has no attachment). The IT department inform me it's because there is a hyphen in the email address I am trying to send to, however the intended recipient has no problems receiving emails from anyone else, only me, and I have happily been sending files to this address for quite some time with no problem before and I also have other addresses with hyphen's in which seem to get delivered.

What's going on? Any ideas.

the undeliverable message should give you further details that will explain why the mail was rejected and who by.

email addresses can have hyphens in them. As Chuck says, we need to know the error message. You sure the colleague hasn't changed email address?

no no no - I can't name names - but some won't deal with hyphens - it's a setup problem ...

I'm guessing your IT guys have decided they don't want hyphenated names ... they've done it wrong ... and included outgoing as well

I have had a similar problem but found that if I always replied to one received from my friend, it always got through, whereas typing the (correct) address in a new email didn't.
