connecting PS3 to a pc monitor

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this query.

My son has just purchased a PS3, which he's connected to our TV. However, he needs to get a new monitor for his PC and it has just occurred to me that perhaps he can connect his PS3 to a pc monitor, and that would get the PS3 out of my living room (Hurrah!). However, i don't know if it is easy to do this, or whether we need to buy a particular monitor or extras cables, or if I can just "plug and play" as they say. Any advice gratefully received!

there are many others .... if all else fails you can get a monitor/tv and do it the old fasioned way
