splitting nails

my wifes nails keep splitting and flaking and she was was wondering what supplements she was lacking to rectify the problem. The nails are not discoloured at all.

have you any idea as to why this may be happening

Yes....you could be that she is allergic to something..e.g detergents...Does she use gloves to wash up in...are they rubber gloves....has she changed her nail varnish recently?

If no to all these,,,if could be a fungal infection.

Or as a last resort it could be a manifestation of thyroid underactivity or anaemia.

thanks for that, don't think its an allergy but will investigate all suggestions. I wondered if it might be something like a zinc/magnesium deficiency etc

Almond Oil massaged into the nails should help nourish them

Try cod liver oil...i had a similar problem..cod liver oil fixed my prob

When I worked as a barmaid my nails were lovely & strong. I wonder if there was anything in the beer that helped them ????
