Following on from what I was telling Salla on the GMT, I was wondering if you, like me, tended to encounter hilarious or just downright bizarre people on holiday - whether they are your fellow countrymen or foreigners.

When I used to go away with my mother on girly hols, we always gave these characters names according to who they reminded us of. When we were in Malaga about 10 years ago we met friends we ended up calling "kipper breath", "Rob Roy", "Fraggle Rock" and so on.... LOL

Have you met any memorable people whilst on holiday?

Yes!! LOL London or Manchester!
I remember once we went to benidorm and there was this couple, who spent their entire 2 weeks under a sun umbrella, fully covered up from head to toe and were the only couple to go home whiter than when they came.

Hi funny - I drove through Benidorm once on my way back from Murcia and it was like Blackpool with sun !

There was a funny couple sat by us in the Bar in Javea 2 nights ago, and the woman, in true British style, said to the Bar tender, "Can I 'ave a Gin con tonica por favoooorrrrr?"
Hi Mercy,
Benidorm is so commercialised now, that it doesn't appeal to me. I like out of the way places.
A generation or two ago,it was the so-called "ugly American" tourist that made Europeans cringe. Now I think it is the chavtastic Brits who seem to have taken over. They are proud that they can afford 'overseas' travel.......but don't really care to mix with the 'locals'

Hi pasta - yes I know what you mean. I also find the Brits can get really annoyed if the native people don't speak English. It's really arrogant to assume that everyone of the planet speaks our lingo.
