Song sung at school 40+ years ago.

Hi I am trying to find the music for a song I sang at school.
The words are: Mother dear, please let me go with Hans. Don't keep me let me go. If with Hans I could dance, Mother twould please me so. I believe it is foreign - Polish maybe, but have never been able to find the music. Can anyone help PLEASE?

It looks as though it might be from the opera Hansel and Gretel, by the real Engelbert Humperdinck. I can't find a libretto on the Internet to check it.
