Never mind the speed of the site - I think it's me that's a bit slow today. Even given the answer (above) I can't see the structure of 6Dn. I can see iron is an appliance but can't follow the "how to get there" with this one. Can anybody give my greay matter a nudge please Thanks a bunch.

APPL (IAN) (C) E. Man with beginning of cricketer wrapped in fruit (apple).
Ala bama The first part is the brief name for Alabama
Thanks Davey B. I can only put it down to the heat and advancing years! I really should have been able to see that - especially once I'd been told the solution. Thanks again.

Immanent - meaning prevailing, inherent. Or "all around."

Good luck.

Re 11ac: State briefly you'll reply to everyone by degrees. As above it looks like ALABAMA but why?

State (=ALABAMA) briefly you'll reply to everyone (ALA? but why?) by degrees (BA MA)

Didn't understand that one myself, unless it's as vivviv says ALA is abbr for ALABAMA. Which means the clue dosen't make much sense.
