My eldest brother was in the RAF for 17 years and is about to get a similar payout.....he left many years ago now and this will be some sort of pension lump sum.
I doubt any of the forces would pay a new recruit that amount!
What if they all joined, did basic training, took the lump sum and left?
could it be 1800?

9 weeks at 200 per week ?

doesnt sound like an outrageous amount.

if he has no qualifications i assume hes no maths professor?a simple calculation error and an extra zero could easily explain it.
