dogs and grass

Is it true that when puppies eat grass it can be quite harmless and nothing to worry about, but if an older dog eats grass it is a sign of serious illness?

If they eat grass it probably means that they are not dogs, but sheep.

No, it is perfectly normal for dogs to eat grass at any age.
It is also nothing to do with them feeling sick, if mine find a nice patch they all join in and eat it together.

My 14 year old staffie follows me round the garden munching the cuttings when I give the lawns the first cut of the year, he looks like someones painted his gob with green paint.
Its never done him any harm.

Yes, my little dog has always happily grazed on soft couch grass and he's 12 & a half years old!

I grow a pot of grass on my windowsill for my cats - they sit and munch away quite happily.

I was told to give a dog a slice of bread when they eat grass. This will soak up the excess acid that has built up in the stomach.

Also feeding dogs twice a day instead of once a day helps to reduce acid buid up.
