I'm designing an invite to a summer party, daytime, music is 60's 70's rock and roll, maybe a bit of folk/country, hope i'm setting the scene.

What i want to put on the invite is 2-4 lines of a well known song, something about having a party, come and have a good time, sun shining etc.

Any idea's or flashes of brilliance greatly appreciated x TIA x

How about..

" It's one O Clock and time for lunch, dum de dum de dum. When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench I can always hear them talk"

Opening narrative from "I know what I like" by Genesis.

Or "Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know ya, where I stand"

Sun is shining by Bob Marley.

What about...Mungo Jerry, 'in the summertime'?

In the summertime when the weather is high
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find

What about Pink's "Get the party started" but change a couple of the words -

Get this party started on a saturday night

Everybody's waiting for you to arrive

Sending out the message to all of my friends

We'll be looking flashy hope it never endz

I really think there's nothin' quite so fine
As lettin' the sun rejuvenate your mind
And yet, there's nothin' better for your soul
Than lyin' in the sun and listenin' to rock 'n roll

("Sunny Days" by Lighthouse, 1972)

Don't put anything with 'have a drink, have a drive...' on a party invitation.  It's a great summery song but.... do you remember that advert from the early nineties?
