Can anyone help please? I'm looking for very plain, straight legged, high waisted trousers for my mother in law. She wants smart trousers with creases down the legs, but nothing that sits lower than the waist, and nothing flared or bootcut - and she doesn't want black or navy. Size 8, 29 inch leg. It sounded easy when she asked me to find some for her, but it's not, so any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

HI naomi,
It depends on what sort of price range she is looking for. Both M&S and John Lewis do great ranges of trousers for the mature lady. A lot of independant boutiques do very good quality lables such as Basler, Lucia, Gardeur and Bianca, which also have a "good quality" price tag! lol

I've tried Damart, M&S, John Lewis, Debenhams, Cotton Traders and several others from the internet. I'll try Zara. Thanks.

Thanks Lynn. The problem is they all seem to have low waistlines or shaped legs. I'll try those you suggested.
Windsmoor, Jacques Vert.
Hi naomi, I know Gardeur do what they call a "slim-fit". These are straight leg but not sure if they are high-waisted or not. Hope you find what you are looking for. x
i do know that snags is selling some of his old ones on ebay that fit your description naomi. so if you don't mind nearly new there is a bargain to be had there.
Too late... I've given them to craft...
I suspect the colour choice may be a problem here. Smart trousers tend to be a bit like old Ford cars - any colour as long as it's black.

Not sure if you would get a size 8 but Bon Marche have always catered well for the mature lady, and usually have comfy straight trousers. Cheap but they often have some nice stuff.

Thanks very much for your help everyone. It's much appreciated.
I know you said you looked at M&S but take a look at their Classic range. High waisted with elastic at back and zip front. ( i had to take elastic out of Ma in Law's as they were a bit pinchy) She is a very smart 80 something year old and if they are good enough for her then....

Thanks Naomi. I must have missed it, but I'll look again.

Thanks again everyone.
