Hi timjohnson, I live near Keswick, and the current visitor figures for the whole of the Lakes is around 19 million per year.  In summer the areas around Keswick and Windermere get very busy indeed.  The best time to see the lakes is in late October and November when the leaves are golden and the roads are quiet.  Sorry  I don't have any figures on numbers visiting Keswick in particular.
