Hi
Yes I have installed a fibre optic kit in a bathroom. The diy kit was made by Schott. It is pretty straightforward, the kit consists of a small low voltage light source with a colour changing motorised wheel. This is fitted in the loft, I just placed it on a flat piece of wood resting on two joists. From this emerges about120 fibre "tails" each about 1.5 metres long. You then make 120 small holes in the ceiling either in a pattern or just randomly, easy to do but time consuming lots of up and down the loft ladder! You then feed the ends of the tails down through the holes in the ceiling ,you get a little white collar for each tail which goes over the end you then push the collar with the end of the fibre optic tail back into the ceiling..,. job done. You have to think about how you are going switch it on from the bedroom. I used one of those remote control plugs which plugs into a socket. about fifteen pounds . It's fairly easy to wire in a socket into the lighting loom, but if in doubt you could get a sparky to do that, should't take long so shouldn't cost too much. Hope that helps.
