what is the difference between historical, political and population geography?

political geography can include international boundries between countries, and the problems that arise because of them (e.g Gaza Strip, mineral deposits on borders, see also causes of second world war).  The origins of peoples is political e.g the serbs and kurds, whose historic tribal areas are now divided by modern borders. 

Population geography is also known as demography (demos from Greek for people).  This can include population changes, population distribution within an area e.g urbanisation, ages of population etc.

Historical geography is as it suggests, related to the history of an area or people.

population geography is the distribution of race, political is the territorial distribution of land mass and historical is obviously historical political geography
