council tax
hope this is the right section for this, if a private property is empty and is up for sale (no one lives in it) does the owner still have to pay council tax , there is no furniture in the property either

Hi audi1961, I was in that position 4 years ago when I moved from Scotland to England. I moved in with my partner to the property we had bought in England, even though my property in Scotland was still not sold. I had to get a letter from the estate agent stating the address of the propery and that it was 'vacant and unfurnished'. They also stated that they were the official keyholders to the propery bacause I was now living in England. The local council accepted this and no more council tax payments had to be paid. Hope that helps.
