Can anyone help, just received letter from solicitor, advising of offer regarding car accident [not my fault].
He says he received an offer of 2450-2650.
But hes going to put forward an offer slightly above the top end of this bracket to the third party insurers for negoitiation purposes in the sum of 2700.
As with most people not sure what to do or accept.
Could you please advise.

Without knowing what the payment is meant to be compensating you for, it's impossible to comment.

Around two and a half grand for a broken finger nail is fantastic. Around two and a half grand for a broken neck is pathetic.

You should be guided by your solicitor but, if you're paying his fees, you should also ask yourself whether fighting for a small amount of extra money is actually worth it. (It won't help much if your solicitor gets you an extra hundred quid, but charges you two hundred for doing so!).

You also need to consider how urgently you nee the money. If the roof of your house is leaking (and you've got no other funds) it would be better to get the money to pay for the repairs now, rather than getting slightly more money later (when the leak has caused lots of damage and given you a far bigger bill).

Ask your solicitor how much longer you'll have to wait for the money if he challenges the offer. Also ask him if his fees will increase. And, of course, ask him what he thinks the chances are of the other side agreeing to his higher figure. Then make your decision, based upon what's most important to you.

I was offered 2.5k for fractured shoulder & arm from slipping in pc shop. (I went in to buy a computer). I asked for 2.7k and got it - bought lappy, printer/scanner, software & digital camera, all at cost and ream of paper.

I still ask for discount as arm not fully repaired due to osteosporosis - I get it and goods carried to my car; they dont want me falling on their premises ;)
I got 6k for being hit by a car on a pedestrian with the green man up. No broken bones, just servere bruising.
Definitely depends upon the severity of the injuries sustained, also depends on the expertise of your lawyer, ours dealt only with personal injury cases.

My husband suffered a minor whiplash in a car crash followed by a sprained shoulder after slipping in a bath whilst on holiday. Both accidents were claimed for and he received 10K - that was in 1996!
And everyone wonders why insurance premiums are sky high.
