stomach ulcers? If you do what do you do or take to ease the pain?
For the last 2 nights I have had severe ulcer pains going on till the early hours of the morning. A few years ago I was prescribed Omeprazole but I have run out. I went to Boots and got some Omeprazole over the counter but they were 10mg. I have made an appointment with my GP but its not until next Wednesday. I just want some advise on how to ease the pain as I don't want to go through another night like the last 2 nights.

No I don't drink and I don't eat really spicy stuff either. I don't know how to describe the pain but I'd rather have severe period pain than ulcer pain. At least with period pain you can pop some pain killers or ease it with a hot water bottle. Neither of those work with an ulcer and the pain goes on for ages. I can't take pain killers anyway as they aggravate the ulcer more. I've been taking Zantac as well but that didn't work either! :o(

Poor you -I think I would in your circumstances -if you cant find anything to line your stomach -stick to water until you get help or phone NHS24.I dont mean to panic you but seriously you cant be expected to endure that pain and at least you will get seen by a GP.
I have nothing but praise for NHS24 and they will certainly help you -even if its to get a GP to write a script for you to pick up nearby.
Dont suffer in silence hun -you may exacerbate the problem xx

Hi TB if you're still here - go and get something.
If it is an ulcer and you're given Omeprazole and the ulcer heals, you want to find out out what caused it. A neighbour kept having ulcers and then they cleared up and re appeared, finally it was found she had pylori bacteria(well something like that) She was treated for that and after that she never had any more trouble.
I swear the sales of gaviscon dropped!!
Take care and hope you feel better soon.

Hi Cruella and Cath, xxxxxxx
I had some horlicks last night which seemed to do the trick. I didn't have any milk which I know is good for soothing heartburn and indigestion so horlicks was the next best thing. I went to bed early and slept like a baby! Lol
The doasge is low if you get it over the counter Crue. I did have some prescribed by my GP at (I think) 50mg but I don't have any left.
I've got an appointment on Wednesday and I'm going to ask for an endosope (sp). If it is a bacterial infection then hopefully it can be treated. The problem started several years ago just after I was having problems with my noisy neighbour. It could be stress related as sometimes I do get stressed out with work like I did last week.
