It can be a slow process though, and over-the-counter remedies DO work, so long as you persevere and don't let the medication get onto healthy surounding skin.
Verrucas and warts all come from the same human papiloma virus, and to stop them being spread to others, keep your foot covered at all times. If you use a home remedy, be careful if you're diabetic, but otherwise, they DO work.

You can get verruca plasters from chemists and supermarkets. You basically stick them on, leave them for a few days or something, and it fixes it! Brilliant!
Remember that freezing kills the infected tissue but not the HPV and is usually repeated every four weeks until the warts disappear; it can be painful. Electrocautery is more effective but more prone to produce scars. If you just cannot get rid of it, a dermatologist might use a carbon dioxide laser as a last resort. However be patient warts do heal without scarring if allowed to resolve naturally. Therapies such as cryotherapy (freezing) or electrocautery can result in life-long scarring at the sites of treatment.
