Further to my post from a while ago - red larvae

Hello all.
A while ago I asked for help in identifying caterpillar / larvae type things in my flat.
They are about 1cm in length, ridged and reddy brown. They seem to take a liking for clothes and usually my other halfs tracksuit. Also they are under the bed and generally wandering about. I pick them up and flush them away or I hoover them but they seem to keep coming back. Now I have noticed that we have a few flying bugs in the flat, about 1/2 cm or less, hard-backed and brown (I think the 2 are related as I am finding empty larvae shells). They are a nuisance. Does anyone have any ideas what they could be? I don't have carpet and I really want to be rid of them. Thanks in advance

Well it sounds like carpet beetle/larvae (if a tad on the large side). You don't need to have carpets to have the beetles, they feed on lots of fabrics & particularly seem to love soft tissue paper. Are the larvae hairy when you look closely?

If it is those then the key is to vacuum everywhere, all the corners, spaces under skirting boards inside wardrobes, cupboards, drawers. Keep everwhere dust free (& especially no pet hair if you have any) for the rest of this season. It was the only way I finally got rid of mine.

Hi Robinia, they look remarkably similar but are not hairy, they're smooth all over. I do have a cat so i'll make a special effort to hoover his favourite places more often.
