There were a couple of bits of lovely music on Rivers Griff rhys jones last night 9/8/09. The first was a nice guitar piece and the second was an old classical choir song. Can anyone help me out? Phil

If the choral piece is the one I think you're referring to, it's Little Lamb, Who Made Thee, which is the words to WIlliam Blake's poem The Lamb set to music by Jon Taverner. Unfortunately I can't find any recordings to direct you to as yet.

If you're looking, bear in mind that several composers have also set this poem to music.
Sorry, should be John Taverner - spelt it wrong.
Wrong again! Duh! John Tavener - and the link is here.

Bet it's not the right one after all that lol!
If it's not that, and what you're in need of is the livelier piece inside the big church, it's Vivaldi's Gloria in Excelsis Deo.

Sorry, can't help with the guitar music, but it's reminiscent of the music from the film Deliverance, although it's not that.
I think there were a few guitar pieces from Nick Drake on Rivers.

It is surprising how often you hear parts of Nick Drake on programs, often say Gardening programs.

Sadly he committed suicide (probably) many years ago so never got to see his "fame".

Go here, then scroll down and select "Preview All" to hear a bit of each track.

Why not go iplayer, watch the program again (or skip through it) and tell us the times of the music you are interested in.

Having watched the start of the program on iplayer I can confirm the pieve of music that starts at 3 minutes 19 seconds is definately Nick Drake.

Sounds like "Cello Man" off the album "5 leaves left".

There is also a track on that album called "River Man" so would not be surprised if that is not on one of the shows as well.
